Panelists include representatives from education, healthcare, justice, faith-based, and mental health sectors

2:15 PM – 3:00 PM    Breakout Session: Strengths & Needs Brainstorming by Community Sectors

Participants will divide into groups based on sector to identify key challenges, strengths, and actionable solutions. Each group will assign a facilitator and note-taker to report back for future planning.

  • Faith-Based Sector – Church leaders, chaplains, faith-based clinicians
  • Criminal Justice Sector – Judges, law enforcement, court personnel
  • Education Sector – School counselors, administrators, student support staff
  • Healthcare Sector – Hospital/ER staff, nurses, medical providers

WHAM (Whole Health Action Management)

Community Mental Health Trainings

Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aid


A skills-based training that teaches participants how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health or substance use challenges in youth or adults. This course focuses on reducing stigma and equipping individuals to offer initial help and connect others to professional resources.

QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer)


An evidence-based suicide prevention training that empowers participants to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and take action. QPR provides practical steps to question someone about suicidal thoughts, persuade them to seek help, and refer them to appropriate resources.

Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk (AMSR)


Designed for providers and direct care workers, AMSR offers practical, research-informed strategies to assess and manage suicide risk in individuals. The training equips professionals with tools to conduct suicide-specific assessments and interventions while addressing care challenges.


Rapid Response Trauma Services: For Community Crisis Recovery

Mental Health Matters of Middle Georgia provides trauma response and recovery services to support individuals, organizations, and the broader community in times of crisis. By offering immediate interventions and accessible, evidence-based techniques such as R-TEP and G-TEP, we help reduce distress and promote healing for those impacted by critical events. Our tailored training programs equip first responders, educators, healthcare professionals, and leadership teams with the skills and tools needed to effectively manage critical events within their teams and communities. Through on-site support and specialized training, we empower organizations to mitigate the impact of critical incidents, enhance staff well-being, and build resilience to face future challenges. Our commitment is to foster long-term recovery and create a stronger, healthier Middle Georgia community.

Using evidence-based approaches from EMDR Consulting, Critical Incident Debriefing (CID) provide immediate support to individuals and groups following a traumatic event. This intervention is designed to address the emotional and psychological impact of critical incidents, fostering recovery and resilience. This is especially effective for first responders, organizations, and communities needing structured support after crises such as natural disasters, workplace incidents, or other traumatic events.

Acute Traumatic Incident Processing (ATIP)


Using evidence-based approaches from EMDR Consulting, Acute Traumatic Incident Processing (ATIP) provide immediate support to individuals and groups following a traumatic event. This intervention is designed to address the emotional and psychological impact of critical incidents, fostering recovery and resilience. Recent Traumatic Event Protocol (R-TEP)


The Recent Traumatic Event Protocol (R-TEP), developed through EMDR principles, is a focused intervention that helps individuals process and reduce distress from recent trauma. It aims to prevent long-term psychological effects by addressing the event early and effectively.

Group Traumatic Event Protocol (G-TEP)


The Group Traumatic Event Protocol (G-TEP) extends trauma-focused care to groups, allowing participants to process collective distress in a supportive environment. This method fosters shared understanding and healing, benefiting schools, workplaces, and community groups impacted by shared traumatic experiences.
